Sapan is name of the Sakya pandita, a very popular and wise master. We consider there is no difference between sakya pandita and Manjushri the good of wisdom. Building of Nunnery is very important project of the Sapan Foundation. Land has already at the Shelgo six km from Kaza. The construction of the main temple, dormitories, classrooms, library, kitchen, atc., cannot be started because there are no funds available for this project. However fund-raising has begun. This project is on our priority list because the Spiti sakya nuns´community is scattered. Some nuns are living with their parents, some nuns left the nun life. 12 nuns studying in Sakya nunnery in Dehra dun. We are worry about that nuns when they return after study where they will live. Some girls would like to become nuns but without any convent school and temple they are hesitate. It is important for the nuns to have their own place. Our plan is to introduce a school and hostel small praying place and to provide modern education beside their religious education, for the benefit of its student. This would prepare the nuns for many eventualities as well as equipping them with the ability to face many challenges and an ever-changing environment. For instance knowledge of a foreign language would prove to be useful in communicating with our foreign visitor and in meeting request for Buddhist teaching and translations. Furthermore, as it is entirely op to the individual, to choose whether to continue being a nun or not, some nuns and monks have chosen to leave the monastery and to continue their lives as lay people.
